Console Controls
Console inputs for K2 Climbing Simulator are mapped to the shoulder buttons and stick press. Use this page when playing on PlayStation or Xbox.
| Action | PlayStation | Xbox | Available When |
|---|
| Climb | L2 / R2 | LT / RT | Near a climbable surface |
| Jump | X | A | On the ground or near a ledge |
| Sprint | R3 (press stick) | R3 (press stick) | During normal movement on walkable terrain |
- L2 / R2 (LT / RT): Used for climbing. Squeeze either trigger to grip and begin upward movement. You can alternate triggers to simulate hand-over-hand climbing.
- X (A): Jump. Useful for clearing small gaps between ledges or starting a climb from ground level. Tap once — holding does not increase height.
- R3: Sprint. Press the right stick to run on flat or downhill terrain. Useful for covering ground between climbing sections. Sprinting drains endurance.
Console-Specific Details
Climbing with Triggers (L2 / R2)
- Either trigger works for climbing. You can use one trigger or alternate them if that feels more natural.
- Releasing both triggers while climbing may cause you to lose grip. Keep at least one trigger held while ascending.
- The triggers are analog — how far you pull them does not affect climb strength.
Jumping (X / A)
- Jump works on the ground and during movement. It does not work while clinging to a wall.
- Use jump to cross short gaps between platforms or to reach the bottom of a climbable surface.
- Jump height is fixed. There is no variable-height jump mechanic.
Sprinting (R3)
- Sprint on flat ground to move faster between climbing zones.
- The right stick click (R3) toggles or holds sprint depending on the game’s input setting.
- Sprinting uses endurance. Watch your pace on longer traversals.
What Console Cannot Do (vs PC)
| PC Feature | Console Equivalent | Notes |
|---|
| Camera toggle (CTRL) | Not available | Console uses fixed over-the-shoulder view |
| Interaction (F) | Not available | No dedicated interaction button listed |
| Player click (rope request) | Not available | No cursor-based targeting |
| Wipe screen (C) | Not available | Screen clearing is not mapped on console |
Practical Tips
- On long climbs: Alternate L2 and R2 to reduce hand strain during extended sections.
- Before a climb: Make sure you are close enough to the wall. If pressing L2/R2 does not grip, step forward and try again.
- Sprint wisely: Save sprinting for flat sections. On steep terrain, sprint has no effect and wastes endurance.
- Jump timing: Press X / A just as you reach the edge of a platform for the cleanest gap clearance.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|
| L2/R2 does not start climbing | Not close enough to a climbable surface | Move closer to the wall |
| Character slips while climbing | Both triggers released | Keep at least one trigger held |
| Sprint does not activate | R3 not pressed firmly enough | Press the right stick all the way in |
| Jump does nothing | Not on the ground or near a ledge | Move to a flat surface or platform edge |
| Button labels confusing | PlayStation vs Xbox naming | Check the table above for your platform’s mapping |
Notes
- Console controls are independent from PC controls. Not all PC actions have a console equivalent.
- Button labels differ between PlayStation and Xbox but the function is identical.
- Remapping is not available in the current build.
