Climbing Camera

K2 Climbing Simulator offers two camera modes on PC, both toggled with the CTRL key. Choosing the right view makes climbing sections easier to navigate and helps you spot handholds and route paths.

When To Use Each Mode

Climbing Camera (CTRL)

  • Use when ascending steep or vertical sections where handholds are above your current view.
  • The upward angle reduces manual mouse tilting while looking up.
  • Recommended by the game for the optimum climbing experience.

Shift Lock Camera (Left CTRL)

  • Use when traversing narrow ridges or ledges where camera rotation could disorient you.
  • The locked-behind view keeps your forward direction consistent.
  • Helpful in windy conditions where footing matters more than camera control.

Default Camera

  • Best for walking between climbing sections, exploring camp areas, and general navigation.
  • Gives you full freedom to look around with the mouse.

Hard Info

  • PC only — console camera controls are not available. Console uses a fixed over-the-shoulder view.
  • CTRL and Left CTRL may refer to the same physical key depending on your keyboard configuration. The game distinguishes them by function.
  • First person camera is listed as an alternative option in the game. Its toggle key is separate from CTRL.

Practical Tips

  • Before a big climb: Press CTRL to switch to climbing camera before you start the ascent. Switching mid-climb works but may briefly disorient you.
  • On ridges: Use Shift Lock Camera (Left CTRL) to lock your view forward. This keeps your focus on the ridge line instead of fighting camera rotation.
  • After slipping: Tap CTRL once to recenter your camera view before getting up with F.
  • Experiment per section: Different route sections benefit from different camera modes. Switch freely as the terrain changes.
