Interaction / Get Up

Press F on PC to interact with objects or get up from a prone position. This is the primary contextual action key — what it does depends entirely on what is in front of you.

What It Does

  • Interact: Triggers an action on whatever object you are facing, such as opening a menu, picking up an item, or starting a scripted event.
  • Get Up: Returns your character to a standing posture after being downed or prone.

Common Interaction Scenarios

SituationPrompt ExamplePress F To
Near a supply cache”Press F to open”Open the cache menu
At a camp structure”Press F to rest”Start resting or interact with camp gear
After a fall or knockdown”Press F to get up”Stand back up
Near a climbable ledge”Press F to climb”Begin climbing
Trigger point for an eventContext-dependent promptStart the scripted sequence
Near a co-op object”Press F to interact”Perform the co-op action

When It Appears

  • An in-game prompt appears on screen when an interactable object is near. The prompt label changes depending on the object but the key remains F.
  • The Get Up action is available whenever your character is in a prone or downed state.
  • Prompts have a range limit — you must be close enough to the object for it to register.

Hard Info

  • Input key: F (PC only; no console equivalent listed).
  • The action only fires when a prompt is visible. Pressing F without a prompt does nothing.
  • Prompt labels vary, but the key binding is consistent across all interaction types.

Practical Tips

  • After a fall: Wait for the “Press F to get up” prompt to appear, then tap F once. Do not spam the key — the prompt appears on a short delay.
  • Scanning for interactables: Walk near objects you want to use. The prompt only appears when you are within range. If you see nothing, move closer.
  • Quick interactions: F is a single-tap input. Holding it is not required.
  • If F does nothing: You are either out of range, facing away from the object, or the prompt has not loaded yet.

Notes

  • Prompt labels change depending on the object. The key remains F across all known interaction types.
  • Keep an eye out for prompts in camp areas — they are easy to miss in bad weather.
